Movie Music Monday, Believe, The Polar Express, Josh Groban, Christmas

Movie Music Monday, Believe, The Polar Express, Josh Groban, Christmas time.

The Polar Express has to be one of the most magical movies ever! Its song Believe gives me goose bumps whenever I listen to it! It is about a boy who learns to believe in Santa during a magical train adventure.

The book The Polar Express was written by Chris Van Allsburg, an American illustrator and children’s books author who also wrote Jumanji.

Believe, written by Glen Ballard and Alan Silvestri, was nominated for the Oscar for Best Original Song at the 77th Academy Awards and it is sung by Josh Groban. Believe gained a Grammy Award in 2006.

Josh Groban Lyrics

“Believe”
(from “The Polar Express” soundtrack)

Children sleeping, snow is softly falling
Dreams are calling like bells in the distance
We were dreamers not so long ago
But one by one we all had to grow up
When it seems the magic’s slipped away
We find it all again on Christmas day

Believe in what your heart is saying
Hear the melody that’s playing
There’s no time to waste
There’s so much to celebrate
Believe in what you feel inside
And give your dreams the wings to fly
You have everything you need
If you just believe

Trains move quickly to their journey’s end
Destinations are where we begin again
Ships go sailing far across the sea
Trusting starlight to get where they need to be
When it seems that we have lost our way
We find ourselves again on Christmas day

Believe in what your heart is saying
Hear the melody that’s playing
There’s no time to waste
There’s so much to celebrate
Believe in what you feel inside
And give your dreams the wings to fly
You have everything you need

If you just believe
If you just believe
If you just believe
If you just believe

Just believe
Just believe

My favorite part of this movie – and book! –  is found right at the end:

“At one time, most of my friends could hear the bell, but as years passed, it fell silent for all of them. Even Sarah found one Christmas that she could no longer hear its sweet sound. Though I’ve grown old, the bell still rings for me, as it does for all who truly believe.”

(Chris Van Allsburg, The Polar Express )

I guess my very special Christmas wish is that I always hear the sound of the Christmas bell…
