Un R\u00eave d\u2019HIVER, A Winter’s Dream<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In the distance,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

White and brown giants still slumber,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As their aspirations of one day being fearless of the<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bitter Whispers, fill the heavens above them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Obscure to the titans,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They carry on frisking with the giants\u2019 duvets,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sending shivers down<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The slumbering ones\u2019 spines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Suddenly, they stop, all looking towards an elfin figure,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As he pulls his sleigh slowly towards a lone tree,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Developing on the mountainside.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Screaming,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The whispers rush back towards their marshmallow homes,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Finally giving the giants<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A chance to rest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cUn R\u00eave d\u2019Hiver\u201d received \u2018Highly Commended\u2019 at the 2016 Junior Poetry SACEE (South African Council for English Education) Competition (Creative Writing Competition for High Schools Junior Poetry Category) on the 20th of September 2016.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lysandra Furstenberg <\/a>is the recipient of the 2017 Renee Duke Youth Award, a Human Rights-themed Annual poetry contest open to poets aged 17 and younger, honoring Renee Duke, artist, poet, teacher, mentor, human rights advocate.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n
