Cover Reveal for A – Z, 100-Wors Stories are inspired by Transylvania’s history, from the Paleolithic Period to WW1 – almost there!

In Transylvania’s History A to Z, a collection of 100-word stories sprinkled with breathtaking photographs, Patricia Furstenberg uses the confining rules of the 100-word story form to stirringly capture Transylvania, Romania’s historical and geographical region.

Transylvania’s unspoiled natural beauty, its tumultuous history, and the people who touched it are depicted in this book.
Written as snapshots, tall tales, and descriptive narratives, these 100-word stories are the espresso of creative writing.

The unique beauty of a 100-word story is in the way the words are strung together, each one a gem, and in the spaces left between the words, and between the sentences. So much can be told, with little words. It is a challenge for the writer, and a thrill for the reader, as each time the tale is read, a new detail springs to mind.

  1. I remember that bashed in ancient skull. I was fascinated by it. And of course, Bran Castle which is now a vaccination centre. 🙂 I am a follower of your blog… or the game is only for the new followers?

  2. Thank you, Jo, for breaking the ice.
The game is open to ALL followers 🙂

Yes, that bashed in skull caused quite a stir and it stuck with me too 🙂

Let me know if I can send (by next week) you a MOBI / EPUB file for your Kindle or a PDF to read on your computer/tablet.

  3. Hi Pat. I love your stories and I look forward to the release. I remember lots of things from your blog posts, but I’m not sure if they refer to Transylvania. I do remember the drama you fashioned around the secret hiding place in the well. I’m not sure if that was at Bran Castle or not.

  4. Hi Dan, and you’re spot on. It was Bran. Thank you for that 🙂
I, too, like the quirky bits that grab my attention.
    Glad you commented!

  5. My grandfather was born in Transylvania. Really. Before it split into those other countries. Decades ago the US Census-taker’s hand-written entry for him one year listed Tennessee instead of Transylvania. Apparently that person had never heard of Transylvania. True story. I find your blog posts fascinating. Congrats on the books. Best, Babsje

  6. Thank you for sharing this, Babsje. This is an extraordinary tale.
Know that a couple of years back I bought some books from Amazon UK and had them shipped to Bucharest, Romania. Amazon sent them to Hungary (Budapest…)

Congratulation, you’ve been entered into the giveaway. 🙂

I do wonder what you meant by “before it split into those other countries” – as Transylvania is whole and part of Romania now?

  7. Congratulations, Pat, on your new book. I read about the King, and it makes you realize they have dreams like all of us, and that sometimes it is lonely at the top…

  8. Thank you so much, Jim 🙂 I’m glad the cover is out, I like it a lot!

I do remember that one story. Some dreams are taller than others – dare I say. But where would we be without them?

  9. Thank you, Miss Judy, for your kind words and for visiting again 🙂
100 words are quite fun to do, and a great exercise.

  10. Hey Patricia… this is all very intriguing and fascinating so I will have to get into it with some time and effort and then get back to you!
Thank you and hope all is well.

  11. BIG congratulations, Pat! Your new book looks wonderful and I can’t wait to read it. I’ve just this minute pre-ordered my copy. 😀

    1. Goodness, Pat, you have no idea how much this means to me 🙂
Thank you so much and enjoy the read! 🙂
      Lovely to welcome you here!

    1. Hi Anita, thank you for your comment 🙂 I do hope you will get to visit Transylvania soon!
